Do you know : What is AI?

AI - Artificial intelligence

This post gives a short description of the emerging technology - Artificial Intelligence

In 1956, John McCarthy, an American scientist, coined the term Artificial Intelligence and defined it as “the science and engineering of making intelligent machines”. He is also known as the Father of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science which work on building smart machines that are capable of performing tasks which typically require human intelligence. AI involves many different fields like computer science, mathematics, linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy. Eventually, researchers are trying to create a "general artificial intelligence" which can solve many problems instead of focusing on just one. Researchers are also trying to create creative and emotional AI which can possibly empathize or create art and can even understand human emotions. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are going to transform the world and will bring significant change to every aspect of human life.

Types of AI -

Reactive Machines :

Purely reactive machines are those which do not store memory for future use. They are the basic type of Artificial Intelligence. IBM's Deep Blue system is an example of reactive machines.

Limited Memory : Limited memory machines can store some data for a short period of time. This machines stores data for a limited amount of time. Self-driving cars form an example of limited memory machines.

Theory of Mind : This type of AI is for understanding human emotions, beliefs and to interact with people. But it is not discovered yet, researchers are trying their best to develop such kind of AI.

Self-Awareness :

Self-Awareness AI is a hypothetical concept which says that this AI will have their own consciousness, sentiments, and self-awareness.If so then it will be smarter than humans.

Various applications of AI can be seen in fields like-

Robotics National security Space exploration and astrophysics Industrial automation Surveillance and monitoring Hospitals and medicine Weather and climate modelling Automobile and transportation Data analytics and a lot more.

Examples of AI -

Siri and Alexa : These are the voice-activated computer that interacts with humans on a daily basis. Siri is Apple’s personal assistant and Alexa was introduced by Amazon. They help us to find out information, gives us directions, helps us send messages and does many of our works. There’s an expectation that this voice technology will power in-home assistants to help care for the elderly, which is among countless other examples of AI voice recognition.

Pandora : Pandora’s AI system is an example of a system working with humans. Pandora employs musically-astute humans to analyze and categorize a song. Pandora’s A.I. is quite possibly one of the most revolutionary techs that exist out there today. They call it their musical DNA. Pandora looks at some 450 attributes of a song, from vocal style to rhythmic feel.
